The Furusawa House, which has looked after the community for more than 150 years, has been reborn as the Snow House, an inn that is limited to one guest per day.

Many Edo period letters and historical documents were found in the house during the renovation process. The history of the village and the snowy country is filled in this place, and you can feel the snowy country character of the inn to the fullest.

Although it could be made as modern and fashionable as possible, this would not be the “Furusawa Residence”, so it was designed with a careful balance between the functionality and liveliness that this place once had, and the comfort of the travellers. Wood-burning stoves, air-conditioners and fan heaters are used to keep the guests comfortable in the cold.

In addition, through a menu of hands-on activities such as making local cuisine, gathering wild vegetables, farming and satoyama trekking, visitors can enjoy interacting with local people and experience activities that bring them into the everyday life of Tokamachi.
